I picked up this triple-cask release from the distillery while in Scotland in 2023. I didn't have the opportunity to taste it beforehand, but Aberlour has consistently put out whisky that I quite enjoy so I expected to like it.
Right away, the nose might just be my favorite part of this dram. It's rich and fruity and sweet, with a bit of ginger spice to it. On the palate, it's everything I enjoy about Aberlour's spirit - apple, pear, and honey all combined beautifully. I get notes of peach and cinnamon, and maybe just a hint of chocolate as well. The finish is smooth, but a bit simple in my opinion.
Overall, it's a really good whisky with an above average aroma. As I write this now, I still have a bit in the glass, simply because I keep going back to the nose. I will miss that most when this bottle is gone.
