Tasting Notes

Oban is a classic (and fantastic) Scotch. So when I learned they released a cask strength 15-year that's finished in Oloroso and Palo Cortado sherry casks, I was instantly in. It's a bit spendy, but oh boy it does not disappoint. I'm going to have a hard time restraining myself from buying a backup bottle while it's still available...

Nose

Sweet raisins and honey dominate the nose. Some fig too. More time reveals notes of citrus and salty sea spray vibes.

Palate

Rich. Decadent. Absolutely delicious. It's dessert in a glass, but the somewhat funky fruit flavors and peppery spice balance it out from being cloyingly sweet.

Finish

Brown sugar all day. This lingers in the best way possible, with a peppery spice that kicks in as it evolves over a long finish.
