Orange gatorade on the nose, old fashioned on the pallet, a burst of the salivary glands on the finish trying to compensate for the lack of sweetness. It is interesting, hints of wood hidden beneath the orange. The orange doesn’t come across as cheap, but perhaps it comes across as trying too hard. Definitely evocative of an old fashioned, but without the sweetness from the sugar nor the complexity from the bitters. Drinking this straight isn’t unpleasant, but I also don’t think I would seek it out to have more. Bought a 50 ml mini after a pleasant lunch at the distillery/brewery near Great Wolf Lodge. Sampled in a “lodge” that might suffer in similar ways that this “bourbon” suffers. Capitalism comes through in both more than tradition and passion. The orange extract might be going to my head, time to call this review and enjoy what I have left in the thin-walled plastic cup.
